Matt is the organiser of the Literature Zone at the Big Arts Day on 14th July this year. He would welcome BlueGate Poets taking part and probably provide a covered space.
We are based in Swindon but have members beyond the local area. Anyone can become a member of
BlueGate
Poets!
The experience of our poets
ranges from impressive and
successful poets to beginners.
Collectively we have years of experience organising and
running poetry groups, work-
shops and participating in the
Swindon Festival of Literature.
Many of our poets are published
and our best often perform at
venues around the country.
Our aim is to spread the enjoyment of poetry and the reading, writing and listening to poetry by encouraging local talent and voices at every level.
BlueGate Poets is a poetry society run for the benefit of its members. It has been established over 3 years now and is already well regarded for the events and workshops it sponsors and for the poetic talent of its members. We welcome new members whether you are new to poetry, you want to pick it up again or you are already an established poet.
Whatever your age, if you would like to learn more about BlueGate Poets and about the benefits of membership please click the link.
The primary objectives of BlueGate Poets are to:
Poetry Readings, Events and Workshops
BlueGate Poets organise and deliver an annual programme of readings, workshops and poetry events in and around Swindon for members and non-members. Members always get first pick of tickets, often at a subsidised rate.
BlueGate Poets is funded by membership fees and by art grants, when these are awarded. Our programme of events relies on the membership fees and grant funding. No representatives of Bluegate Poets receive remuneration for their services to the society and all funds raised go towards the running of the society and the provision of poetry readings and workshops. The schedule is rolled out over the year and members are informed of all society news and activities via email announcements, occasional newsletters, meetings, this website, associated websites and blogs.
